A medium-sized shrub which may grow 6’ to 10’ tall.  Prefers well-drained soils and full sun to part shade.  Non-fragrant white flowers appear in spring, followed by blue/black berries that are attractive to wildlife. Native Americans used the young twigs of this shrub to make the shafts of arrows. Native to the southern United States.
